Caring for Your New Piercing:

A Professional Guide

Congratulations on your new piercing!

Now begins the crucial phase: post-piercing care.

By following a proper routine, you’ll ensure quick and safe healing, avoiding complications.

Many are as frightened by the aftercare as they are by the procedure itself, concerned about the care and potential issues.

In the initial period following the piercing, it is essential to care for the new hole so that the body can accept the piercing as quickly and effectively as possible.

Do not underestimate your body’s ability to heal properly, but our help is crucial, especially in the beginning.

We advise against overdoing care and using too many recommended products. The more you assist the body, the more you may delay healing.

It is important not to use multiple products simultaneously to avoid over-irritating the area and not to leave it constantly moist.

AFTERCARE FOR ALL PIERCINGS

EXCEPT TONGUE AND SMILEY

Wash your hands thoroughly before disinfecting and cleaning the area.

Gently wash with water and soap to remove residues from previous disinfection, dirt, and any crusts. Treat it as an open wound: dirty hands transfer bacteria.

Apply our “CURE your piercing” disinfectant, a product specifically for new piercing care, available for purchase. Apply only a single spray from a medium distance up to 3 times a day for 30 days.

Do not overapply the product; too much disinfection can trigger the opposite effect, delaying the natural healing process. The body needs time to work at its own pace.

Pat the surrounding area with dry gauze or paper towels.

To clean it from secretion residues, wash the area to soften the crusts and, while holding the jewelry still, use gauze or paper towels to remove everything.

Do not remove the jewelry: during healing, closure is immediate.

Try to move the jewelry as little as possible—do not rotate or twist it.

Avoid chemical products: avoid alcohol, Neosporin, Bactine, etc. They can irritate the area. No creams, makeup, perfumes: avoid direct contact with the piercing.

In the shower: protect the piercing from shampoo and soaps, and rinse thoroughly.

Do not scratch crusts: they are part of the healing process.

Be mindful of movements: be careful when washing your hair, dressing, and sleeping (avoid resting on the piercing).

Sleep cautiously: use a travel pillow with a central hole to suspend the ear.

SEPTUM AND LABRET

For SEPTUM AND LABRET, which heal more quickly, disinfection can be limited to 10/15 days.

For the septum, you can hide the jewelry right away without complications.

Use warm water and sterile gauze to remove any residues.

NAVEL

For this type of piercing, it is important to avoid tight belts, bands, and rigid or tight-fitting pants or skirts during healing, as well as clothing that may snag on the jewelry and irritate the piercing during the initial period.

NIPPLES

For NIPPLE piercings, we recommend avoiding furry clothing in contact with the area, such as sweatshirts and sweaters that may leave residue and lint.

Nipple piercings tend to produce lymphatic secretion (composed of blood, lymph, and dead cells) for much longer than other piercings.

This yellowish liquid, similar to pus, is a normal part of the healing process for all piercings.

In the case of nipple piercings, this secretion can continue for years.

Don’t worry if the piercing seems healed but still secretes fluid after a long time; it’s a normal adjustment process for the body and will eventually stop.

It’s important to keep it clean using only water and drying the area with paper towels, without moving the jewelry too much.

The healing time will depend on your body.

Avoid direct creams and moisturizers, protect the area from body fluids, wear only clean clothes, and avoid tight clothing, lace, and rough fabrics.

NOSTRIL

For NOSTRIL, in addition to the disinfection mentioned above, it is recommended to cover it with a small bandage for the first 10 nights if the piercing was done with a spiral jewelry.

Since it is not a closed piece of jewelry, there is often a risk of losing it during everyday activities like dressing, washing, and drying your face, but especially at night when we are not paying attention, the jewelry tends to slip out.

If you lose the jewelry during the first nights, the hole will close very quickly, and by morning, it might already be too tight to reinsert.

Hence the importance of the bandage.

Blow your nose gently if you have a cold or allergies. Be careful when undressing and dressing not to snag the piercing.

Perform your daily skincare routine normally, but be cautious with creams and makeup to avoid contact with your new piercing.

DERMAL / SURFACE

Avoid touching the new piercing.

Continue your daily skincare routine normally, being careful with moisturizers and perfumes to avoid contact with your piercing.

Be mindful of bags and belts, and don’t wear jewelry over the piercing.

Be careful not to snag the new piercing when dressing and undressing, or with bags, necklaces, chains, etc.

Protect your microdermal during the first week with a small bandage in situations where it might be at risk (during the night, physical activity).

For the rest of the time, it can be left uncovered to allow it to breathe.

N.B.: It’s crucial to maintain daily care for your microdermal to ensure it lasts well and long! Like all other piercings, the microdermal produces and will continue to produce lymphatic secretion that will solidify in the space between the skin and the stud.

Performing the cleaning after a shower will soften the solidified secretion, making it easier to remove the residue with a dry paper towel by gently passing it between the skin and the external component.

Cleaning should be done at least once a day for as long as you have the piercing!

These are delicate piercings that need continuous care.

MICRODERMAL

VERY IMPORTANT The microdermal, like all other piercings, produces lymphatic secretion that will position and solidify between the skin and the gem.

By cleaning WITH WATER AND SALT , the solidified secretion will soften, and it will be easier to remove residues with a dry paper towel by gently passing it between the skin and the external component.

Cleaning should be done at least once a day for as long as the piercing is with you! They are delicate piercings that need continuous care.

ORAL PIERCINGS

TONGUE, SMILEY, WEB TONGUE, LABRET

The recommended mouthwash is OKI (available for purchase at pharmacies). If you have allergies, you can use another alcohol-free mouthwash. Rinse with the mouthwash twice a day for 10 days. Do not overdo it with rinses; otherwise, you could achieve the opposite effect.

Tips for good and fast healing, especially during the first 3 days after the procedure:

CLEAN: Do not introduce anything into your mouth that could be a potential source of bacteria.

COLD: In the first few days, you can eat almost everything. The enemy is not the food but the HEAT, so both solid foods and drinks should be consumed COLD, as heat tends to increase inflammation of the wound while cold helps contain it.

SLEEP WITH 3 PILLOWS for the first 3 nights:

The greater the difference in height between your head and heart, the less fluid will flow, preventing excessive swelling of the area during the night.

If you are a smoker, smoke as little as possible and avoid alcohol for at least the first 3 days.

It is also recommended to use a new soft toothbrush to minimize the spread of bacteria in the mouth.

Swelling of the tongue for the first 3/5 days is perfectly normal, as is bleeding during this period.

Do not be alarmed if you see a whitish liquid coming out of the piercing; it is not pus, just lymphatic secretion (a mix of blood, lymph, and dead cells), produced by all piercings as part of the healing process. Always leave your jewelry in place; even healed piercings can tighten and close within minutes, even after years!

AVOID
Changing the jewelry before it’s time.

Removing the jewelry.
Healed piercings can tighten and close quickly, even after years!

Avoid using products like BETADINE, HYDROGEN PEROXIDE, or ALCOHOL because they are too harsh, excessively dry the skin, and can hinder the piercing’s healing process. Using too many different products simultaneously is not recommended, as this could also slow down the healing process.

FOR MAINTAINING AND CLEANING THE PIERCING

You can take care of your piercings even after the healing period by keeping them clean with our specific product “CLEAN your piercing” (link for purchase).

Soak gauze or paper towels in the product and pass it between the jewelry and the skin to remove any secretion that may form.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR A PIERCING TO HEAL?

Healing and adjustment times may vary; each body is unique and reacts differently. So, be patient and take good care.

Even a healed and well-cicatrized piercing may have ups and downs from time to time.

Some piercings heal very quickly, while others may have a longer and more troubled healing process.

We are always available and ready to assist you with any doubts or issues.
